BRISTOL ON HERITAGE DAY

Every September thousands of volunteers across the country invite you to experience local history, architecture and culture - on what are called 'Heritage Days' ALL FOR FREE!

 

A unique opportunity to explore the city’s rich historical and architectural treasures, many of which are not typically accessible to the public. Last year, several notable sites in and around Bristol opened their doors, including:

 

Thornbury Town Hall: Discover its varied past as a police station, courtroom, and tavern through guided tours.

 

Chapel of the Three Kings of Cologne: This Grade II listed building, part of the Fosters Almshouses, offers a glimpse into its 15th-century origins.

 

St Luke the Evangelist Church: Explore this Brislington landmark with tours of the church and bell tower.

 

Clifton's Orthodox Church of the Nativity: Visitors can admire the stunning interior of this 1888-built church.

 

Ashton Gatehouse: Originally the entrance to the Ashton Court Estate, this site will offer special tours, including a rare chance to meet the engineers who maintain the Clifton Suspension Bridge.
