LLANDUDNO

The Queen of Welsh resorts

View Dates & Book

DAY ONE

We head to LLandudno making a stop at the market town of LLangollen. It has so many lovely little shops selling local crafts, souvenirs, delicious food, clothing and antiques.

Once home to Welsh princes and influential abbots, this historic "Gateway to Wales" makes the most of its riverside setting in the narrowest stretch of the Dee Valley. Trains, boats, festivals and more make Llangollen a delight to visit at any time.

OUR HOTEL

The Grand Hotel Llandudno is a magnificent Victorian building and a prominent feature of the wonderfully conserved and famous Llandudno North Shore Promenade. Nestled at the foot of the Great Orme, and offering fabulous views across the spectacular bay and sea front, this is certainly a hotel which offers that particular holiday feeling.

DAY TWO

We will be visiting Porthmadog Steam Railway with outstanding scenery, comfortable carriages and historic steam engines await you in the heart of Snowdonia. Glorious coastlines, ancient oak woodlands, mountains, rivers and castles, all beckon as you embark on your journey on the Porthmadog award winning railway. With some of the most comfortable carriages on any preserved railway – standard or narrow gauge, step back in time to a more civilised age.

Designed by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis in the early 20th century, Portmeirion's Riviera inspired houses, ornamental garden and campanile are a beautiful pocket of madness. Situated on its own private peninsula and with its iconic architecture, scenic surroundings and vast gardens, overlooking stunning coastal scenery, Portmeirion, nestled in the heart of Snowdonia, has long been one of Wales’ most popular destinations.

DAY THREE

We spend some time in Llandudno. The town is renowned for its sweeping bay and Victorian era architecture. It is uniquely situated between the Great and Little Ormes with two wonderful beaches, the award winning North Shore and the quiet, sand duned West Shore.  Llandudno, is also famous for its wild Kashmiri goats, originally from the Great Orme, who frequently wander into the town, causing traffic jams by blocking roads, car parks, and even using traffic lights!

The Great Orme Tramway is Britain’s only funicular, or cablehauled, tramway that travels on public roads. Re-live the experience of travel more than 100 years ago in the lovingly

restored original tramcars, each named after a Saint. The unique journey begins at Victoria Station, a short distance from Llandudno’s seaside and pier. The Tramway climbs

a mile (1500m) through the Great Orme Country Park and Nature Reserve to the Great Orme’s spectacular summit.

DAY FOUR

On the way home we will be stopping at Conwy. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, climb to the top of one of the Castle's eight towers to get a stunning view over Conwy. Visit Quay House, the smallest house in Britain. This red painted, one up one down, measures only 10 x 6ft and was last lived in by Robert Jones who was 6ft 3 inches tall.

Pop along to Aberconwy House, the oldest dwelling in Wales and absorb the character of its wonky walls and uneven floors, and browse the second-hand bookshop.

We also visit Pas Mawr, Britain’s finest town house of the golden Elizabethan age, never was a building better named. Plas Mawr, or the Great Hall, is quite simply the finest surviving Elizabethan town house anywhere in Britain. Robert Wynn, who built the house between 1576 and 1585, was a merchant of great repute, and his fondness for grandeur and colour is matched in this house, his finest hour.

The price includes dinner, bed and breakfast.
