Along the High Street, which is officially Britain's second widest street, you will find Chandlers Yard, (almost unchanged since the 17th Century) and also the historic 17th Century Silk Merchant's House.
In the afternoon we take a two hour trip on the Kennet and Avon Canal.
Drawn by shire horses Monty and Drummer, reflecting the role of the barge in England’s heritage, the barges are painted in the traditional ‘roses and castles’ decorative style, which became fashionable in the mid-1800s. They have full weather protection, so the show goes on even when it rains!
And of course no trip would be complete without a cream tea!
