MORETON IN MARSH AND BROADWAY

There’s more to Moreton in Marsh than the Cotswold’s largest popular outdoor Market.

The High Street is lined with 17th and 18th Century buildings built mainly of the honey-coloured stone quarried from the local area and housing many specialist shops, antique emporiums, art galleries, tearooms and Deli’s.

The Curfew Tower, one of the oldest structures in town is known to have acted as a lock up for local drunks and criminals for much of its history. Built in the early 16th Century the tower still has it’s original clock and its original bell, which was rung nightly to remind people of the risk of fire at night.

We also pay a visit to Broadway, sometimes known as “The Jewel of the Cotswolds”, is a particularly manicured village with boutiques, tea shops, art galleries, restaurants and a shopping mall. The main village street is very wide, or should we say ‘broad’, as it’s lined with fine buildings of Cotswold stone, giving it a warm and homely feel.
