Oakham, the county town of Rutland, is England's smallest county.
Oakham is a pretty, traditional English market town, bustling with activity. Packed with heritage, there’s plenty to see in Oakham which makes it ideal for a day trip.
Oakham's most famous feature is its unique horseshoe tradition at Oakham Castle, where visiting royalty and peers donate ornate horseshoes, creating a massive collection in the stunning Norman Great Hall, Europe's finest surviving example.
